Impact of COVID- 19 on the Provisions of Arbitration Act, 1996

Due to the rapid spread of Corona virus, (COVID-19) it was officially declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization on  11th March, 2020. Several measures are taken by countries in response to COVID-19 by imposing lockdowns to restrict the further spread of the disease. At the moment of such crisis, the lockdown can undoubtedly be a bolt from the blue for in-person hearing, which would hit hard in compliances of certain provisions of the laws and the speedy disposal of cases which in turn affect the entire nation, resulting in failure of the contracts, delay in justice and expeditious disposal of cases.
